Fall patterns push shad into major creeks like Cowikee

We do not have any fresh reports from the water this week, so we need to lean on the typical November patterns for Eufaula. Right now, the lake is usually dealing with the effects of the fall turnover, which tends to scatter the bass. As the water cools, the threadfin and gizzard shad push back into major creeks like Cowikee and Barbour. The bass will follow them tight to the grass beds and shallow wood cover.\n\nSince we are flying blind on exact water temperatures and clarity, your best bet is to cover water in the creeks to locate the bait. Keep a spinnerbait tied on to work around the grass edges and cypress trees. Early in the morning or under overcast skies, a buzzbait or walking topwater bait can draw strikes from aggressive fish feeding on those shad schools.\n\nFor this weekend, head into the major creeks and look for bait flicking on the surface. Target the shallow wood and grass with moving baits like spinnerbaits and buzzbaits until you find where the active fish are holding.
